Ground Broken for Burlington's Wegmans

BURLINGTON—Local and state officials, along with many local residents, came to the future Wegman's location on 3rd Avenue last week for a groundbreaking event. 

Though no shovels were actually put in the ground, the event was a celebration of the beginning in the next stage of the site's development. The Wegman's is planned to open in the spring of 2014.

New Wilmington Eatery Opens For Business

WILMINGTON—There is a new entrant into the highly competitive world of Wilmington roast beef restaurants.

Rizzo's Roast Beef & Pizza opened its doors at 3R Church Street on March 18.

Owner George Rozopoulas said he has been very pleased with the reception the restaurant has received in the first week.

"It's been a grand slam so far," he said.

This is the third "Rizzo's" for Rozopoulas. He founded the chain in Peabody and Salem but has since sold the Peabody location.

Young Reading Players Learn Skills From Boston Celtics

READING—Eight young Reading basketball players got the pro treatment on Thursday as they traveled to Waltham to participate in a clinic hosted by young Boston Celtics guard Avery Bradley and former Celtic Dana Barros.

The clinic, sponsored by Dunkin' Donuts, took place at the Celtics' practice facility and focused on defensive skills. Bradley is known for his defensive prowess, establishing himself as one of the top defensive guards in the NBA.

Town Will Appeal Coakley's Medical Marijuana Ruling

WAKEFIELD—The town will appeal a decision by Attorney General Martha Coakley overturning its bylaw aimed at zoning medical marijuana facilities out of Wakefield.

Meeting in an executive session at the start of Monday night's meeting, members of the Wakefield board of selectmen voted in favor of having Town Counsel Tom Mullen file the appeal.
