North Reading Raid Produces $10M Alleged Drug Cash

The raid of a storage facility in North Reading produced more than $10 million, according to myfoxboston.com. Police have not commented on the July raid, but FOX undercover kept digging and found that the suspected drug money is connected to a senior citizen with a lengthy record of trafficking.

Over fifty pounds of pot was seized along with the money as part of an investigation that started with a traffic stop in Kansas, myfoxboston.com said. Marshall Dion, 78, was pulled over for speeding, four miles over the limit, when police searched his truck. They found over $800,000 in cash plus bank records that said he had much more.

Police found a GPS, which eventually lead to the discovery of the North Reading storage facility, the article said. Dion has not yet been charged in this state, but he is being held in Kansas on a charge of transporting drug proceeds. According to myfoxboston.com, his defense attorney said that he is fighting the search in Kansas, given that he was only traveling four miles over the speed limit.
