NRPD Officers Present When Second Suspect Was Placed in Custody

North Reading Police Sergeant Joseph Thibodeau and Detective Paul Dorsey assisted officers in Boston this week to help with the marathon bombing case.
Both Thibodeau and Dorsey, along with Officer Sean O'Leary were part of the manhunt Thursday and Friday of last week. The officers are members of the regional response team NEMLEC (North Eastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council).
"Knowing the terror and destruction the two suspects caused over the past week, these officers worked tirelessly until both suspects were in custody," Police Chief Michael Murphy said in a statement.

According to Murphy, the NEMLEC team was present when the second bombing suspect was taken into custody.
"As we all know, the scene was extremely dangerous, tense and unpredictable. When the second suspect was placed in custody, our NEMLEC team was there," he said.

"On behalf of the North Reading Police Department, I would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Sgt. Thibodeau, Detective Dorsey, and Officer O'Leary for their dedication and professionalism during this long tense week," he said. "I can't let this moment pass without saying how incredibly proud we all should feel when reflecting on the work they and our law enforcement brothers and sisters have done. It was a proud day for our profession."
He went on to ask that we keep Officer Sean Collier and "all those who suffered a loss this week" in our thoughts. He also mentioned Transit Officer Richard Donahue and hopes he will recover quickly.
