Reading Male Summonsed After Violating Abuse Prevention Order

The following is a look at some of the calls handled by the North Reading Police Department from Friday through Sunday. The information is open to the public.

Friday, August 2

  • At 12:50 a.m., an 18-year-old Reading male was summonsed on charges of violating an abuse prevention order on Swan Pond Road.
  • At 11:37 p.m., the bar manager at Great American Tavern reported having a problem with patrons. All of the patrons were picked up and an officer stayed in the parking lot for the rest of the evening.

  • At 5:39 p.m., a caller reported that she ordered an ice coffee from the Dunkin Donuts on Main Street and found the word “help” written on the cup. Police spoke to all the employees working and they all denied involvement.
  • At 9:47 p.m., a caller reported hearing four of five gunshots. Police checked the area, but did not find anything.

Sunday, August 4

  • At 7:30 p.m., a caller reported smoke near Linwood Avenue. The fire department responded and found the source of the smoke on Carriage Way.
