‘The Time of the Doctor’ Is Here

His name has been spoken, his day has passed, but on Christmas Day, it will be "one last bow" for Matt Smith as Eleven on Doctor Who.

Christmas is almost here and for many in the Doctor Who fandom, that means only one thing — the Doctor will be saving someone from aliens and destruction on Christmas Day!

But this Christmas is even more special for Doctor Who fans as Matt Smith, the popular Eleventh Doctor is saying goodbye to the show and Peter Capaldi will be introduced as the next Doctor.

The Doctor Who Christmas special has been a tradition since the 2005 reboot of the popular series. The specials often feature different companions, special stories (remember the Titanic episode? Or A Christmas Carol? I loved that one!) or new Doctors. And they’re even even special to the actors who portray the Doctor, as seen in the BBC video above featuring both David Tennant, the Tenth Doctor, and Matt Smith, the Eleventh.

What will be interesting this year will be how Matt Smith’s Doctor will regenerate. Many fans remember the last words of each Doctor

There was Nine (Christopher Eccleston)’s famous words to his companion: “Rose, before I go, I just want to say you were fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. And you know what? So was I.”

That just about killed me. How about you?

But then, there was Ten's regeneration. And that really killed me! The beloved regeneration scene of David Tennant, which was recreated in a way during the 50th anniversary special — The Day of the Doctor — with the simple phrase: “I don’t want to go.”

What will Eleven say?

No one is sure, but one thing is certain, as The Impossible Girl Clara has told us in the trailer for The Time of the Doctor (see above):

"And now it's time for one last bow

Like all your other selves

Eleven's hour is over now

The clock is striking Twelve's."
