Walmart Closing Stores, More Than 150 in the U.S.
Sam's Clubs — including two in Massachusetts — are included in the list.

Walmart will be closing 269 of its stores in the United States and abroad, the company said in an announcement on Friday. The closings include Sam’s Club stores, including two in Massachusetts.
Of the closures, 154 of the locations are in the United States, and will include 102 Walmart Express locations, many of which were part of a pilot program. The company is also closing 23 Neighborhood Markets, 12 Supercenters, seven stores in Puerto Rico, four Sam’s Club stores, six discount centers, and 115 internationally.
Included in the list of closings are two Massachusetts Sam’s Clubs — 1110 Fall River Ave. in Seekonk and 841 Grinnell St. in Fall River.

Stores closing will be announced later Friday, the company says. There is a Walmart located in Tewksbury at 333 Main St.
The closing will represent less than one percent of both global square footage and revenue, said the company.

The Walmart closings impact 16,000 employees, with 10,000 of them in the U.S., and more than 95 percent of the closing stores are located within ten miles of another.
According to Walmart, affected employees will be offered open positions in other stores, and those who aren’t relocated will receive 60 days pay, and severance and job training skills for those who are eligible.
