
The following is a look at some of the calls handled by the North Reading Police Department from Monday through Thursday. The information is open to the public.
Arrests
At 3:37 p.m. Monday, a caller reported an erratic operator on Park Street. As a result of the call, James P. Mutter, 55, of 22 Kilmarnock St., Wilmington was arrested on charges of operating under the influence of liquor second offense and open container of alcohol in passenger area.

Monday, July 29
- At 7:34 a.m., a Darrell Drive resident reported that his car was broken into overnight and items were missing.
- At 8:07 a.m., Autozone reported that they received a counterfeit bill.
- At 10:02 a.m., a caller reported that the National Night Out banner was stolen from Ipswich River Park.
- At 2:35 p.m., a Fairbanks Lane resident reported that her car was entered overnight and an iPad and $100 was taken. As a result of the call, a 29-year-old North Reading resident was summonsed on charges of breaking and entering into a vehicle at night and receiving stolen property over $250.
Tueday, July 30

- At 9:26 p.m., a caller reported he hit a building while driving on Main Street. Police found that the air conditioning unit was damaged, but not the building.
Wednesday, July 31
- At 10:05 a.m., an employee from Hess reported that a customer pumped gas, but did not have cash to pay for it. The customer said he would return to pay for the gas.
- At 10:26 a.m., police were asked to mediate an argument between two people. As a result of the call, an 18-year-old Reading resident was summonsed on charges of violating an abuse or harassment order.
- At 2:08 p.m., a caller reported a car accident on North Street. The injuries were unknown.
- At 6:38 p.m., a Southwick Road resident reported that her house was egged the night before.
Thursday, August 1
- At 8:44 a.m., RMLD reported larceny of electricity at a house on Central Street.
- At 2:40 p.m., an employee from Play It Again Sports reported a shoplifter. As a result of the call, a 47-year-old Middleton man was summonsed on charges of shoplifting by price tag tampering.
- At 9:32 p.m., a Sullivan Road resident reported that his car’s passenger window was cracked and he believed it was due to an attempted car break.
