Police said Russell Crowe and Rhiannon Mendonca led officers on a chase through Taunton and Norton.

NORTON, MA — A couple who led police on a car chase in Taunton Sunday night and hit speeds of more than 100 mph were later arrested in Norton after ditching the vehicle, according to police. Russell Crowe, 23, of Springfield, and Rhiannon Mendonca, 32, of Taunton, were charged with receiving a stolen vehicle and held in custody pending an arraignment in Attleboro District Court Tuesday.
The chase started Monday at about 7 p.m. in Taunton. Police said Crowe and Mendonca were driving a black Lincoln sedan that was reported stolen.
"Taunton Police informed Norton Police that the pursuit was terminated as the vehicle entered Norton and that the vehicle was traveling at a speed in excess of 100mph," Norton police Lieutenant Todd Jackson said in a statement. "Norton Police immediately searched the area for the vehicle. While searching the nearby area of South Worcester Street, Norton Police Patrolman Bryan King encountered (Crowe and Mendonca) acting suspiciously, standing on the front lawn of a residence."
