5 Things Feb. 16: Keep Norton Beautiful, Diaper Derby and More

1. Keep Norton Beautiful informational meeting
Norton Community Task Force is holding a Norton Cleanup information meeting 10 a.m. at Norton Public Library. The website will be updated after the meeting. At that time, sign up information will be available. This year’s cleanup is scheduled for April 27, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

2. Chateau gift cards help the library
Purchase gift cards for the Chateau on their website, select “Friends of Norton Library’ for the Community Sponsor and the Chateau will give the Friends 5 percent back every quarter.

3. Diaper Derby
Emerald Square Mall will hold a Diaper Derby. Registration deadline is 8:45 a.m. To register parents or guardians must visit Guest Services at Emerald Square Mall, 999 Washington St., Attleboro on Level 1 across from JCPenney. Participants in this year’s Derby must be crawlers under the age of 12 months and must not be walking yet to race against each other in a fun competition that will also include other activities before, during and after the races including vendor tables, coupon distributions, kids crafts and activities and more. There will be 36 crawlers and 4 racers per heat. The winner from each of the heats will then compete for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize.  This is followed by an award ceremony. All three winners will receive a trophy. All racers will receive a goody bag.

5. High near 41, low around 19
Today there is a 50 percent chance of snow showers before noon, then a chance of rain showers. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. Otherwise, it will be cloudy, with a high near 41. North wind will be 6 to 8 mph. Tonight there is a 60 percent chance of snow between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. It will be cloudy, with a low around 19. North wind will be 8 to 14 mph.
