Flood Warning Issued For Area Near Taunton River In Norton
The National Weather Service is issuing a flood warning for parts of Bristol and Plymouth counties from late tonight into Saturday morning.
NORTON, MA — The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Taunton River in areas near Bridgewater affecting both Plymouth and Bristol counties.
The flood warning is in effect until early Saturday morning.
The river is expected to rise above the flood stage just after midnight tonight to a crest of 8.3 feet tomorrow morning. The NWS says it will then fall below the flood stage late tomorrow evening.

At 8 feet, backwater flooding from the Taunton River will cause the flooding of lower Purchase Brook in Middleboro. The NWS says this will cause Woloski Park to become impassable by most vehicles.
A statement from the NWS urges people to avoid roads with heavy amounts of water and warns drivers to beware of the dangers of crossing flooded roadways.

"Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles," the NWS said in the warning.
The next statement from the NWS will be issued this evening by 9:30 p.m.
