Men's Track & Field Competes At Yale Invitational

Sharma posts 12th place finish in 60-meter hurdles.

The Wheaton College men's track & field team competed in the 31st Yale Intercollegiate Track Classic, hosted by Yale University, on Saturday afternoon at the Coxe Cage. Today's meet was an unscored friendly which featured such teams as Sacred Heart, Southern Connecticut State University, Central Connecticut State, UConn, Williams, UMass Amherst and Brown University among others. 

Sophomore Ben Sharma (Lexington, Mass./Lexington) highlighted Wheaton's efforts on the afternoon with a 12th place performance in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.83-seconds. 

Junior Logan Hinderliter (Allegheny, Pa./Allegheny) finished 14th overall in the weight throw with a toss of 35-feet and 8.50-inches and 17th overall in the shot put with a distance of 37-feet and 8-inches.

Freshman Alexei Spinu (New Cannon, Mass./New Cannon) ranked 23rd overall in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.46-seconds. 

In the one-mile run, senior Michael Richard (Chicopee, Mass./Holyoke Catholic) crossed the finish line in 26th place overall with a time of 4:34.91 just ahead of sophomore Harry Bachrach (Chestnut Hill, Mass./Beaver Country Day) and classmate John Green (Quincy, Mass./North Quincy). Bachrach came in 27th overall with a time of 4:34.94 while Green was 28th overall in 4:36.09.

Bachrach also placed 25th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:07.21. 

In the high jump, senior Sam Fear (Bath, Maine/North Yarmouth Academy) tied for seventh place overall clearing a height of 6-feet and 0.50-inches. 

The Lyons return to action on Saturday, Jan. 19 as they will host the Wheaton Invitational in the Beard Field House at 11 a.m.
