Norton Changing Banks, Mailing Address for Bills

Bills sent via post should be aware the address will be changing.

 Norton’s Board of Selectmen voted 4-0 (with Bob Salvo absent) to change Norton’s bank services.

The change will going into effect in July, 2013, and would change the mailing address every resident would send their sewer, water and tax bills.

Norton treasurer Jacqueline Boudreau said the town sent out four bids, and Century Bank came back with the best result.

“Century Bank stood out,” she said. “They’re the only bank of the four that process payments in house and their rates for their services were much better than the other banks.”

Boudreau said the payments all come in to a P.O. box, and are then picked up by the bank from the post office.

“The mailing address will be different,” she said.

Thought he actual address has yet to be announced, Norton residents who mail their bills should keep informed on the decision.

“A lot of people have that address programmed into their bill paying routine,” she said.

The change would also save the town $2,300 a year in fees.
