Norton Teen Hits Police Vehicle

Early Saturday morning, a driver allegedly drove through a stop sign, hitting a police vehicle.
At approximately 2:04 a,m., Norton patrolman Nicholas Crugnale was travelling westbound on W. Main Street in a marked police vehicle when a Toyota Camry allegedly exited Oak Street without stopping at the stop sign, and struck the front end of the police vehicle. The Camry, operated by Patrick Traverse, 19, of 3 Brookwood lane, Norton, struck the vehicle and continued through the travel lane, striking a tree in front of 232 W. Main St. before coming to rest.
Traverse was placed under arrest at the scene and charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle, operation of a vehicle under the influence of liquor, speeding and failure to stop at a stop sign.

No one was injured in the crash. Traverse was later released and will appear in the Attleboro District Court on Monday.
