Obituary: John A. Snyder

John Snyder, 74, of Attleboro, formerly of Florida and Norton, passed away Saturday, Nov. 17.

John A. Snyder, 74, of Attleboro, formerly of Florida and Norton, passed away  Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012 at the Berkshire Place Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Providence.

Born in Jersey City, N.J. Jan. 19, 1938, he was son of the late John Snyder and the late Angelo Sr. and Ida (Diussa) LaGreca.

John grew up and was educated in Norton. During the Korean Conflict he served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharged March 6, 1959 with the rank of Airman First Class.

When younger, John owned a speedboat and loved taking his family water skiing on the Norton Reservoir. These trips would always begin at the former Frates Dairy in Norton.

He enjoyed gardening and had traveled the United States by way of bus. One of his proudest accomplishments was bicycling from Norton to his nieces home in Burlington, Vt.

He is survived by his children Peggy Ann Snyder and Adam J. Snyder-Carine, both of Florida; his siblings Jill Desrosiers of Norton, Susan Desrosiers and her husband Bob of Norton, Trudy Westman and her husband Harry of N. Attleboro and Angelo LaGreca Jr. and his wife Brucene of Cumberland; and his several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother-in- law Arthur Desrosiers and nephew Kevin Desrosiers.

Private services will be held at the convenience of his family with burial will taking place at the Norton Common Cemetery in Norton.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St., Norton.
