Joshua Manual Deleon, 22, is facing charges including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and home invasion, police said.

TAUNTON, MA — A New Bedford man has been arrested and charged with shooting a Taunton resident during an armed invasion of their home late Friday evening, the Taunton Police Department said in a news release Saturday.

Joshua Manual Deleon, 22, is facing charges including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and home invasion after being accused of shooting the resident — who he knew — in the leg while at the residence's second-floor apartment on Newcomb Place around 10 p.m., according to police.

Officers said they arrived to find the two men struggling on the ground, with one man on top of the other. Deleon had head trauma and other injuries sustained during the altercation, while the other man had a gunshot wound to the leg, police said.
