1 Shot As Gunfire Erupts In Norwood: Police

Callers and witnesses reported a vehicle fleeing the area and three people running from the scene, police said.

NORWOOD, MA — A person was injured in a shooting on Wednesday in Norwood, according to police.

Emergency personnel received multiple 911 calls around 5 p.m. about shots fired at Columbine and Woodbine roads, police said, noting callers and witnesses reported a vehicle fleeing the area and three people running from the scene.

Shortly afterward, another 911 caller reported a shooting victim in a vehicle at a gas station at Dean Street and Route 1, according to police, who said the person was taken to a hospital.

“Norwood Police does not believe there is an on-going threat to the public at this time,” the police department said in a social media post.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 781-440-5100, according to authorities.
