70-Year-Old Hit and Run Victim Dies

Police said Thursday morning that the victim of a serious hit and run accident on Washington St. on Dec. 7 had passed away.

The victim of the Dec. 7 hit and run in Norwood at Washington and Howard streets has died, police said Thursday morning. 

"Seventy-year-old Eleanor Jacobs, of Needham, had crossed the southbound lane of Washington Street and was struck by a vehicle travelling north," police spokesman Kevin Grasso wrote in an email.

The accident occurred just before 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7. At that time Jacobs was transported to Norwood hospital with what police called "serious injuries."

Two witnesses to the accident told police the vehicle was a dark color, possibly a Toyota product, like a Corolla. The witnesses both believe the driver was male, and one stated the driver looked Middle Eastern or Hispanic.

"The vehicle was last seen travelling north on Washington Street towards Westwood," Grasso said. "State Police and Norwood Police are investigating. We have no further information or leads in identifying the driver."
