Dryer Fire Causes $10,000 in Damage
Norwood Firefighters responded to a blaze on Wednesday night started in the laundry area of 901 Coventry Lane.
Norwood Firefighters responded to a blaze on Wednesday night that caused approximately $10,000 in damage, fire department spokesperson George Morrice said in a statement Friday afternoon.
The fire was in the laundry area of 901 Coventry Lane in Windsor Gardens.
"The alarm came in at 6:27 p.m. and was followed by multiple phone calls," Morrice said. "Captain Michael Costello arrived to normal exterior conditions and light smoke conditions on the first floor."

Costello proceeded to the basement and found heavy smoke and fire. The engine 4 crew then began an "aggressive interior attack" on the flames.
Walpole and Westwood fire also responded to the blaze which was extinguished by 6:40 p.m. All residents were evacuated from the building and no injuries were reported.

"Fire Investigator Billy Turner has determined the fire started in one of the dryers in the laundry area of the building," Morrice said. Norwood Fire Chief Mike Howard estimates damage caused in the residence to be worth approximately $10,000.
