FAA Closures Include Norwood Memorial Airport Control Tower
The tower in Norwood is one of 149 regional airport control towers closing next month due to budget cuts.

On Friday afternoon, the Federal Aviation Administration announced they will close 149 regional airport control towers starting in April.
Norwood Memorial Airport is on that list.

The closures are a result of budget cuts that the FAA was forced to make. According to CNN.com, nearly $600 million dollars was cut from their $48 billion budget.
The FAA plans to begin shutting down control towers nationwide on Apr. 7. It should take four weeks to close all of the towers.

Norwood Memorial was once used as a World War II naval base. Since then, its services included medical transport, private flying, sight seeing, and has weather reporting equipment for the area.
