Streets around the Norwood Hospital construction site is again ravaged with flooding after Thurday’s afternoon rain storm. According to reports, the sky dropped .79 inches of water in less than two hours which was enough to flood East Hoyle St; an area effected by the 2020 storm that eventually closed Norwood Hospital for good.

A resident of Norwood posted a picture of the flooded East Hoyle and posted it to a Nowood Facebook group page called Norwood Now. This post started a monsoon of comments opening old wounds of the loss of the critical medical facility.

Originally opened in 1902, the Norwood Hospital which was being operated by Steward Health Care, closed in June 2020 due to flooding. The building remained closed until torn down and attempted to be rebuilt within the past year. Complicating matters Steward Health Care filed for bankruptcy and a company called Medical Properties Trust acquired the building in 2023. Although work continues on the building, information about its triumphant return to greatness is vague at best. -FC
