Governor's Administration Visits Norwood Small Business

The Patrick-Murray Administration’s tour of Massachusetts businesses stopped at Sam's Appliances and Furniture yesterday in Norwood, with State Permit Ombudsman Victoria Maguire stopping by to talk to Jonathan Anzlovar, Sales Manager at Sam’s.

The statewide tour celebrates National Small Business Week, which runs May 20-26. The stops at local business by state officials highlight the importance of small businesses in the Massachusetts economy and provide another opportunity for business owners to discuss the economic climate in the Commonwealth. Small businesses represent approximately 85 percent of the state’s total businesses and employ more than half of the total workforce in the state.

“National Small Business Week is a great way to highlight the business people who are fueling our economy and are providing quality products and services,” said Maguire. “As Massachusetts recovers faster and stronger than the rest of the nation from the recession, small businesses like Sam’s Appliances and Furniture are driving our economic momentum forward.”

Sam's Appliance and Furniture is a family run small business that has been in business since the 1930s and has been under the same ownership since 1978.

The Patrick-Murray Administration continues to work on improving the economic environment in Massachusetts through the state’s economic development plan, “Choosing to Compete in the 21st Century,” which provides long-term strategies for continuing Massachusetts’ momentum in job creation and economic development.

The state has launched a number of initiatives to support small businesses, including regulatory reform that will ensure state government is creating the conditions for small businesses to thrive, targeted support to our cities and towns that improve regional economies and small-business development, and continuing to nurture a robust and supportive environment for the state’s innovation and entrepreneurial economies.
