Man Surrenders After Barricading In Norwood Hampton Inn: Police

NORWOOD, MA — A man who barricaded himself at a Norwood Hampton Inn hotel Tuesday surrendered to police and a SWAT team and the gun has been confiscated, the Norwood Police Department wrote in a tweet Tuesday evening.

Police first announced they were on the scene at the hotel on Route 1 at 1:13 p.m. Tuesday before providing several updates throughout the afternoon that Norwood Police, Massachusetts State Police, and a SWAT team were still "speaking with the individual in an attempt to resolve the situation."

The man eventually surrendered and was transported to the hospital, Norwood Police wrote in a tweet just after 10:20 p.m. Police added that a gun was recovered and there are no charges at this time.
