Norwood Businesses to Donate Portion of Sales to Marathon Victims

The initiative to donate a portion of sales to the Boston Marathon victims started with a talk between Norwood Center's Kim Weineck and owner of Norwood Theater, Susan Lewis.

The Norwood Theater was already planning to donate all proceeds to benefit a family that is affected by the bombing.  Then she suggested to Weineck to ask restaurants if they would like to participate in helping the victims.  There are now seven businesses participating.

"A few charities to consider if making a donation directly: Meetinghouse Bank, Dorchester, MA has set up the Martin Richard Family Fund. Onefundboston.org is a non-profit established expressly to assist those affected by yesterday's bombing. Of course, the Red Cross is always an option, too," Weineck said in a statement.

The following businesses will make donations:

• Charles River Running 26.2% of Saturday sales
• Custom Art Framing/Gallery9 26.2% of Saturday sales
• Envy Boutique  26.2% of Saturday sales
• Napper Tandy's making a donation
• Norwood Theatre 100% of Saturday show proceeds
• On Track Cafe -- donating 50% of Saturday's sales
• Saulnier Family Chiropractic  making a donation
