Norwood Hospital Advises Residents to Stay Out of Heat
So far the hospital Emergency Department has not seen any increase in heat-related illness.

Despite temperatures in the mid- to high 90's Wednesday and Thursday, reported no increase in heat-related illnesses, but physicians still advised residents to stay out of the heat.
“In general, the best advice we can give people during this heat wave is to stay out of the heat, as much as possible, keep hydrated – water works best – and avoid strenuous exercise,” said Peter Dimatteo, MD, Emergency Department physician at Norwood Hospital. “This is especially true if you are on any kind of cardiac medication or antihistamines.”
Dimatteo also urged families and friends to check on anyone with chronic illnesses to help ensure that they are as cool and as comfortable as possible.

The National Weather Service office in Taunton issued a for Thursday, lasting until 7 p.m. Temperatures are predicted to drop only slightly on Friday, into the low 90's, with a chance of thunderstorms.
Dr. Michael Regan, also of Norwood Hospital’s Emergency Department, urged local residents to curb strenuous activity in this weather and be aware of the symptoms of heat-related illnesses.

“If you have signs of elevated body temperature, excess sweating, fatigue, vomiting or dizziness, it’s time to get out of the heat and cool down,” Regan said.
“This hot weather is not a time to be out mowing the grass. Wait until the heat wave breaks,” added Regan.
