Norwood Kicks Off Wednesday Night Summer Concert Series

NORWOOD, MA - Norwood will begin its annual Wednesday night summer concert series this week, offering shows for an eclectic variety of musical styles throughout the next two months.

Concerts in July will take place on the Town Common at 7 p.m. in Norwood Center. They are expected to move to Town Hall for August because of last week's announcement of a Disney+ Halloween-themed movie scheduled to film on the common for the entire month of August, transforming the area into a creepy wonderland.

PanNeubean Steel, a Caribbean steel drum band, will shower the Town Common with summertime sounds of reggae, calypso and maybe a little Jimmy Buffet in the mix. The third try will hopefully be the charm for the band, according to Selectman Bob Donnelly.

"It should be a really fun show," he said. "PanNeubean Steel was booked twice last year but had rain cancellations both times."

The following week, July 13, will showcase some local talent. Roundhouse, a blues band of three Norwood High School alumni, will perform in a concert dedicated to the celebration of Norwood's 150th anniversary.

A night of acoustic classic rock/country and blues from this music duo - Maria and Leon. And Maria has some serious Norwood roots!

August 10: Back Pages
Summerfest welcomes this band for their debut performance in Norwood. This rockin' trio includes another Norwood native - to be revealed at showtime.

August 17: Squeezebox Stomper
Laissez les bons temps rouler! It will feel more like Bourbon Street than Nahatan Street as this band pumps out Cajjun and Zydeco music!

August 24: David Tessier's All-Star Band of All Stars
Back from their 2019 Summerfest debut this Rhode Island-based classic rock group focuses on music from the 1960’s and 1970’s. Break out your dancing shoes!

Donnelly noted that the series is holding August 31 and September 7 as potential rain-out dates.
