Norwood Memorial Day Schedule of Events

Memorial Day is next Monday, May 28. All Norwood schools will be closed for the day. Here is the schedule of events for the weekend, submitted by Norwood Director of Veterans Services Ted Mulvehill:

Saturday, May 26

8 a.m. - New flags will be placed on veterans’ graves at Highland Cemetery, 320 Winter Street. Volunteers always appreciated.

Memorial Day, Monday, May 28

8 a.m. – Memorial Mass at , 547 Washington Street

9 a.m. – Flag to half-staff (until noon), at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Square (Norwood Town Common)

9:30 a.m. – Flag to half-staff (until noon), at the Old Parish Cemetery, Washington and Howard streets

10 a.m. – Parade steps off at Washington and Howard streets. The parade will run down Washington Street to Winter Street to the Highland Cemetery.

11 a.m. – Ceremonies at Highland Cemetery

1 p.m. – Corner Memorial Dedication at Joy and Gay streets, honoring U.S. Army Specialist , who died on January 18, 2012, in the Paktika Province, Afghanistan.
