Norwood Selects Taylor As New Director Of Strategic Initiatives

Taylor currently serves as Assistant Superintendent of Student Services and Strategic Integration in Fall River.

NORWOOD, MA -Norwood Public Schools Superintendent David Thomson announced on Monday that the district chose Dr. Charisse Taylor as the new Director of Strategic Initiatives and Logistics.

"We are very excited to be welcoming Dr. Taylor to the Norwood Public Schools," Thomson said. "She was selected for this role as a result of a thorough and detailed review process, and we are confident that she will be an asset to the Norwood Public Schools leadership team."

"Dr. Taylor has been dedicated to developing programs that transform school culture and increase student achievement," he continued. "We look forward to seeing her bring this experience to her role as well as excitement around increasing family engagement and developing systems and processes for all of the initiatives happening within our schools."

Taylor comes from Fall River, where she currently serves as Assistant Superintendent of Student Services and Strategic Integration. Prior to that, she worked for both the Rhode Island Department of Education and the New York State Department of Education.

Among many projects, Taylor led the work of a cross-functional workgroup in the development of a districtwide Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) and chaired another group through a design process that culminated in the development of key strategies focused on community engagement, talent acquisition and school culture.

Taylor received her undergraduate degree from Smith College. She earned a master's degree in social work from Columbia University and Doctor of Education in education leadership from Harvard University.

Taylor is an avid traveler and enjoys refurbishing old furniture. When she was a child, her dream job was to become a translator for the United Nations. She is currently teaching herself Spanish and French.

Taylor will begin in her new role with Norwood Schools in June in order to have transition time with current Director of Strategic Initiatives and Logistics Dana Brown.
