Norwood Wrestlers Compete in State Championship
Norwood High School Class of 1973's Frank Ciavattone was also honored at the All States Wrestling Championships in Salem.

Norwood High School senior co-captain J.J. ODonnell based on his fourth place finish in the Division 2 State Championship participated in the Massachusetts All States Wrestling Championship at Salem High School.
O’Donnell placed in this grueling two day competition receiving a medal for his eight place finish. ODonnell finished his four year varsity wrestling career with 112 wins posting a 44 win (25 by way of pin) and 12 loss record during his senior campaign.

Fellow co-captain Mike McDonough made the trip to the Massachusetts All States as an alternate with his seventh place finish in Division 2. McDonough also wrestled varsity for four years culminating in a 39 wins 12 loss record for his senior year.
Norwood High School Class of 1973’s Frank Ciavattone was honored at the All States Wrestling Championships in Salem. The former captain of the Mustang Wrestling team received a standing ovation when the Massachusetts Interscholastic Wrestling Coaches Association presented him an Athlete-Contributor award during the All States Championship. Ciavattone, a three time cancer survivor, placed third in the states his senior year and holds numerous world records for weightlifting and was inducted to the United States All-Around Weightlifting Association Hall of Fame in 1996.
