According to the police, at approximately 5 a.m. Friday the department received a report of an assault on Buckminster Dr. The female victim told police that she was walking on the sidewalk towards the entrance of Berkshires at Windsor Gardens when she saw a male subject on the opposite side of the road cross and walk towards her.

"The suspect then grabbed the victim around the neck," a Norwood police statement reads. "The suspect had the victim in a choke hold. She was able to get away from her attacker after a brief struggle. The victim did suffer minor injuries while defending herself. The male suspect was last seen fleeing south towards Walpole St."

Police said that a witness heard the screams of the victim, looked out a window and observed a male subject running from the area where the assault occurred.  Norwood and Walpole police searched the area but did not find the suspect.

"The suspect is described as 6’ to 6’3, thin to medium build, medium complexion, wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt and dark-colored pants with possibly a ball cap," the police statement said.
