Providence Carjacking Leads To Norwood Car Crash: Police
State and Norwood police searched the vicinity of a Norwood trampoline park after the suspect fled on foot early Wednesday morning
NORWOOD, MA - State and Norwood police were unable to find a man suspected of an early-morning carjacking in Providence that ended with the vehicle crashing near a Norwood trampoline park off Route 1.
According to a WPRI-TV news report, a carjacking was reported at around 1:30 a.m. on Thayer Street on the Brown University campus. A man told Brown University police that a light-skinned male wearing a light grey hoodie, red sneakers and a medical mask ordered him to give up the keys to the white Dodge Charger, but he refused. The incident was reported to Providence police.
The man told authorities he had been struck several times in the head before the suspected carjacker reportedly grabbed the keys from him and drove away. He refused medical treatment and told police he only wanted to see his vehicle returned rather than press charges.

State police spotted the car on I-95 and began pursuing it up Route 1. The car crashed near Launch, a trampoline park in Norwood in the 500 block of Providence Highway. The newscast showed that the front end of the Charger was damaged and that the airbag had been deployed. The suspect was not in the vehicle when state and Norwood police began searching the wooded area.
"That was a pursuit by Mass State Police that terminated in Norwood at the dead end of Neponset Street, over in the 500 block," Norwood police spokesperson Kevin Grasso confirmed Wednesday morning. "The subject fled at the end of the pursuit and has not been captured."
