The committee members thanked all of the volunteers and sponsors responsible for this program, as well as NPA-TV and the DPW for their assistance, and noted that the entire series this summer will be dedicated to longtime Norwood resident Don McLean, who passed away in the fall of 2011.

"This is what makes this town a great town," Selectman Paul Bishop said.

July 29, will be the annual Pops Night. Selectman Helen Abdallah Donohue said this is the tenth year for the celebration.

"It's so American," she said. "I take pictures of it and I think, this is picture-perfect America."

Anyone interested in volunteering for the Pops Night should contact the Town Manager's office at the Town Hall.

Norwood's 2012 Fourth of July Celebrations

The Fourth of July Committee also presented to the Board at Tuesday's meeting.

This year's theme for the festivities will be "United We Stand, Proudly We Serve," and Gerry Miller and Paula Pellagi will be the marshalls of the parade.

The Firecracker 5K will also be run on the Fourth, and this year participants can register online.

"It's really something that makes the summer special; that makes the town special," Chairman of the Board of Selectmen Michael Lyons said of the celebration.

Donations in any amount would be appreciated to help the festivities continue each year, and can be sent to the Town Hall for the Fourth of July Committee.

Boch Memorial Fund Awards to be Handed Out

Applications have all been submitted for the Boch Memorial Fund, and awards will be handed out on June 26.

Lyons said that there is $30,000 to give and well over $80,000 worth in requests.

The funding - donated by Boch annually for the last 15 years - is made available by application process to Norwood organizations without an adequate source of funding.
