UPDATE: Single-Vehicle Crash on I-95 Claims Norwood Victim
Two Norwood residents were in the car that flipped over on route 95 southbound Tuesday afternoon, one was pronounced dead at the scene.

A single car accident on I-95 in Walpole claimed the life of one Norwood resident and seriously injured another Tuesday afternoon, Massachusetts State Police reported.
At 1:56 p.m., state troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash north of exit 9 on the southbound side of I-95 in Walpole.
"Preliminary investigation by Trooper Michael Close indicates a 2009 Ford Focus operated by Alison E. Irving, 24, of Norwood, was heading south in the far left lane when the vehicle partially drove off the edge of the roadway," a press release from the MSP reads. "The operator attempted to steer to the right when the vehicle went into a spin and continued across all lanes of the highway."

Police said the car made contact with the guardrail at the right side of the road and rolled onto its roof, coming to rest in the center travel lane. The passenger, Andrew A. Costello, 25, of Norwood, was ejected into the woods next to the highway. He was taken by medical helicopter to Rhode Island Hospital.
Irving was partially ejected from the vehicle and received fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The facts and circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by Troop H of the Massachusetts State Police with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section," police said. "Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Norwood, Sharon, and Walpole Fire Departments, and the Department of Transportation's Highway Division."
