Teen Boy Struck by MBTA Commuter Rail Train in Westwood

The teen was transported to a hospital for "traumatic" injuries.

A 14-year-old boy was struck by an MBTA commuter rail train near Islington Station in Westwood late Monday afternoon, according to NECN.

The teen reportedly survived the incident but was transported to a hospital by helicopter for treatment of “multiple traumatic injuries,” according to WCVB.

As a result of the incident, two of the MBTA’s Franklin line trains were delayed, according to an MBTA alert Monday, though service subsequently resumed for riders while authorities remained on scene to investigate.

The Boston Globe reported that a commuter rail official said the teen had been playing chicken shortly after 5 p.m., and was hit just west of Islington Station.
