Traffic Stop Leads to Two Drug-Related Arrests

Norwood police arrested two parties after a traffic stop investigation turned up heroin, marijuana and pills in the vehicle.

Norwood Police arrested two parties yesterday after a traffic stop on Neponset St. turned up marijuana, heroin and pills in the vehicle.

Arrested were Monique Ryan, 22, of Framingham, for possession of heroin and two counts of possession of a class B drug, and Andrew Moran, 23, of Walpole, for being present where heroin was kept.

The arrests came after Officer Greg Shore stopped a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Neponset St. while conducting traffic enforcement on Monday morning, police spokesman Kevin Grasso said in an email statement Tuesday.

"Officer Shore observed the occupants of the vehicle acting nervous and moving suspiciously," Grasso said. "While the officer was speaking with the occupants he smelled fresh marijuana coming from inside the passenger compartment of the car."

Shore questioned both occupants, and at one point the subjects handed him an instrument used to smoke marijuana. Upon further investigation Shore observed other contraband consistent with that of illegal drug use along with heroin and pills.
