• Informational sessions on high school building project scheduled - The Martha's Vineyard Times (mvtimes.com) — Oak Bluffs residents can weigh in on the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School building project at an informational session at the Oak Bluffs Library on Jan. 15, 2026. Officials will explain plans, answer questions, and prepare voters for an Island-wide funding decision tentatively set for June 2, with additional sessions in West Tisbury, Edgartown, and Vineyard Haven. 
• Half of Vineyard towns adopt residential tax exemptions - The Martha's Vineyard Times (mvtimes.com) — Oak Bluffs homeowners should know the town has adopted a 15 percent residential tax exemption, shifting more of the property tax burden onto second homes to help year-round residents. Along with Tisbury and West Tisbury, the change is part of a broader Island effort to address housing affordability, and eligible residents will need to apply through their town assessor’s office early next year.
• Arriving and Lingering (vineyardgazette.com) — Birders across the Island, including one Oak Bluffs resident with an oriole at her feeders, are tracking which species are arriving and which are lingering into winter. From razorbills offshore to kinglets, owls, and sparrows in local thickets, observers are logging sightings ahead of the long-running Christmas Bird Count. Residents are encouraged to share what they’re seeing in their own yards and neighborhoods.
