Ryan Melville recently announced that he would run for Peabody Councilor at Large.

PEABODY, MA – Earlier this month, Ryan Melville announced his candidacy for Councilor at Large in Peabody.

"After speaking to many residents in Peabody, I am choosing to run as I feel it is important to bring a fresh perspective and new energy to the council," said Melville. "I truly believe we can continue to have a thriving business community here in Peabody while supporting our schools and our seniors, that will be the core of my mission as I embark on the campaign trail."

Melville, a 31-year-old lifelong Peabody resident and combat veteran of the war in Afghanistan, is a first-time candidate for public office. Melville, a graduate of the Peabody School system, was awarded a full scholarship to UMASS Amherst. At UMASS, Melville enlisted in the Massachusetts National Guard and served in Afghanistan from 2010 to 2011.
