Freeze Warning in Effect for Massachusetts

A freeze warning is issued when freezing temperatures are forecast to threaten outdoor plants.

The National Weather Service issued a freeze warning Saturday which will be in effect from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday morning. Temperatures are expected to be in the upper 20s and low 30s.

Most of Massachusetts away from the coast, all of Rhode Island away from the immediate coast and northern Connecticut are impacted by the warning.

Temperatures are expected to fall below freezing after midnight and remain that low through sunrise on Sunday.

A freeze warning is issued when freezing temperatures are forecast to threaten outdoor plants.

An expected freeze will likely kill crops and other sensitive vegetation. Those with agricultural interests in the warning area are advised to harvest or protect tender vegetation. Additionally, potted plants normally left outdoors should be covered or brought inside away from the cold.
