Lynn Assault Kills Man, Puts Another In Hospital

LYNN, MA – A 39-year-old Reading man succumbed to his injuries after he and another man were assaulted in a Lynn parking lot on Sunday morning.

According to the Essex District Attorney's Office, two men were assaulted by two other men while walking on Blake Street around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday. One of the victims, Sergio Sanchez of Reading, was taken to Salem Hospital with life threatening injuries, then to Mass. General Hospital. He passed away shortly after. Officers suspect he was hit with a brick.

The second victim, a 33-year-old Lynn man, was taken to the hospital, and is expected to survive. He called 911 during the attack.

The Essex DA's office, Essex State Police Detective Unit, and Lynn Police are investigating the assault. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is expected to perform the autopsy tomorrow.
