Man Killed In Peabody Mobile Home Fire Early Saturday Morning
The State Fire Marshal's Office said a 72-year-old man was found dead after crews doused a fire off Newbury Street.
PEABODY, MA — A 72-year-old man was found dead after crews extinguished a fire in a Peabody mobile home on Newbury Street early Saturday morning, according to District Attorney Paul Tucker's Office.
Peabody Fire Chief Jay Dowling said crews responded to the fire at about 5:30 a.m. and found the mobile home fully engulfed in flames with the fire threatening to extend to a second mobile home.
Crews were able to knock down the two-alarm fire in about 25 minutes but then found the man's body inside the mobile home. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second person was taken to a local hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
Crews reported that they did not hear smoke alarms in the mobile home upon arrival.

The victim had not been identified as of Saturday morning pending notification of family.
The cause of the fire are being investigated by the Peabody Fire Department, Peabody Police, Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Office of the Essex County District Attorney, and State Police fire investigators assigned to the State Fire Marshal’s office.
They are assisted by the Department of Fire Services' Code Compliance & Enforcement Unit.
