No Injuries In Fire On Route 1 In Peabody

PEABODY, MA —A machine fire at the JRM Greenworks plant on Route 1 in Peabody Wednesday produced a thick plume of smoke but no injuries.

The fire was reported at 5:47 p.m. Wednesday and caused traffic backups on both sides of the highway. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The 55,000-square-foot, custom-built facility employs about 40 people and serves communities in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. The facility, which opened in 2015. can process about 30 tons of recyclables per hour.
