North Shore Free Thanksgiving Meals For Those In Need

Citizens Inn Haven From Hunger, Lifebridge Salem, Salem Friends of Council on Aging and Gina's Giving Back are all preparing free meals.

PEABODY, MA — Those in need of a free hot meal this Thanksgiving holiday can arrange for one through one of the organizations that once again have volunteers taking time out of their holidays to help those less fortunate.

All meals of free of charge and all are welcome. Some places are drop-in, while others have deadlines to arrange for meal pickup or delivery.

Citizens Inn Haven from Hunger (Peabody): Citizens Inn on Wallis Street will offer a free seated meal with appetizers at 11 a.m. and a full seated meal from noon to 2 p.m. To-go meals will be available after 12:30 a.m. Meals are served on the second floor in the dining room with an accessibility lift available.

Brother's Deli (Lynn): Take-out meals will be available at the Market Street location from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

My Brother's Table (Lynn): To-go Thanksgiving meals will be distributed from noon to 6 p.m. Extra meals will be available for those to take for family members, friends and neighbors who might not be able to pick up one for themselves.

The Friends of Salem Council on Aging: Seniors who sign up can receive meals delivered through Brother's Taverna. Those seeking a meal should contact Rosanna Donaghue at 978-744-0924.

Lifebridge (Salem): Lifebridge will be providing Thanksgiving meals at their main building on Margin Street in Salem from noon to 1 p.m. for those with reservations. Those seeking a meal might sign up for one by Nov. 17 at Lifebridge or by calling 978-744-0500.

Gina's Giving Back: Annually provides packaged meals for those to pick up the weekend before Thanksgiving and be cooked at home. "Heat and eat" prepared meals are also available with a Nov. 21 delivery. Those seeking a meal can contact Ginam75@icloud.com. The deadline to arrange for a meal is Nov. 17.

North Shore residents are also encouraged to contact their local food pantries if they are in need of food for the holiday.

Patch has partnered with Feeding America to help raise awareness on behalf of the millions of Americans facing hunger. Feeding America, which supports 200 food banks across the country, estimates that in 2020, more than 54 million Americans will not have enough nutritious food to eat due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. This is a Patch social good project; Feeding America receives 100 percent of donations.
