Peabody Fire Victim's Injures Are Non-Life Threatening

A fire at an apartment complex at 50 Warren Street in Peabody reportedly started when a resident smoked while using oxygen.

PEABODY, MA — The Red Cross of Massachusetts is responding to a fire in a Peabody apartment complex which has left more than 60 people displaced. The fire reportedly started when one of the residents smoked while using oxygen. The small fire in a corner of an apartment complex at 50 Warren Street was reported Thursday morning and affected about 30 units in the building.

Rescue workers requested a Medflight helicopter to transport a person who sustained burn injuries across 40 percent of their body from the apartment complex, according to scanner reports. Officials later said the injuries were non-life threatening. Rescue workers responded to 50 Warren Street just after 10 a.m. Thursday.
