PEABODY, MA — At least one person was transported to Mass General Hospital after being injured in a fire in a commercial building at 58 Pulaksi Street in Peabody. According to scanner reports, fire crews from Peabody and Salem were searching the building for workers. The fire, which was reported around 10 a.m., had reached two alarms by 11:30 a.m.

"They are courageous and truly inspirational. We are very fortunate to have these fine men and women working day and night to protect us from harm."

Pulaksi Street was shut down as firefighters responded to the fire. The one-story mill building sustained significant damage as firefighters broke through the roof to vent the fire.
