Doughty allegedly carjacks a man at knife point in Middleton in front of Hailey's on Main Street. The man escaped in Boston when Doughty stopped at a liquor store, according to police. The victim later told news outlets that Doughty confessed to the murders, and said it was because the victims provided heroin to a loved one.

Wes Doughty is arrested is Spartanburg, South Carolina, on a panhandling offense. When Spartanburg authorities ran Doughty's name, they found he was wanted on the warrant police obtained for the murder charges.

On the same day, police search a stretch of land next to Route 128 North, in an investigation related to the murders.

A "not guilty" plea is entered on behalf of Wes Doughty when he appears in Peabody District Court. He was held without bail, and prosecutors again sealed the documents that may have shed some light on the murders. He is due back on court on April 6 for a probable cause hearing.

On the same day, authorities released the causes of death for Mark Greenlaw and Jennifer O'Connor. The DA'd office said O'Connor was stabbed in the neck and torso, and Greenlaw was shot in the head. The bodies were not dismembered, according to the DA's office, despite earlier rumors to the contrary.
