PEABODY, MA — The Peabody school committee unanimously voted to name Revere assistant Superintendent Dr. Joshua Vadala the district's next superintendent.

Vadala was chosen from a field of six finalists that included Christopher Lord, an assistant superintendent in Peabody who also acts as the principal at Peabody Verterans Memorial High School.

Vadala was chosen without the customary site visits because of the statewide school shutdown to slow the spread of coronavirus. The school committee broadcast interviews with three finalists on Monday and three finalists on Wednesday before voting to enter contract negotiations with Vadala.
