Peabody Police Drop Search For Man Who Fled Crash

Peabody police believe the driver who caused the crash is one of the eight people hospitalized after the three-care wreck.

PEABODY, MA — Peabody police now believe a man who fled a car after a three-car crash Monday was a passenger in the vehicle that caused the crash and are no longer looking for him. Instead, they will arraign Jeffrey Driscoll, 40, of 1 Monmouth Square in East Boston, on charges of operating a motor vehicle on a suspended license (subsequent offense), operating under the influence of drugs (second offense) and reckless operation of a motor vehicle. Driscoll was one of eight people hospitalized after the crash.

Driscoll was suffering from an apparent overdose when police arrived at the crash scene at the intersection of Lowell and King Streets around 6 p.m. Monday, leading officers to initially conclude the man that fled the car was the driver.

In addition to Dricoll, a family of five in one vehicle and a passenger and driver in the third car were taken to the hospital. None of the injuries were considered life threatening.
