Peabody Records One Coronavirus Death In Latest Weekly Report

The report also shows that the number of new cases is slowing while recoveries are on the rise in Peabody.

PEABODY, MA —Peabody added just one reported coronavirus-related death between June 16 and 22, according to the most weekly report from the city.

Peabody, where 160 residents have died from COVID-19 during the coronavirus crisis, has been among the hardest hit communities in Massachusetts because of its high concentration of assisted living facilities and nursing homes. But the latest weekly report shows that the city has made progress to contain the virus.

The newest report including six new cases, bringing the city's total to 1,044 confirmed coronavirus cases since the first case was confirmed in March. Of those cases, 104 remain active, meaning 780 people, or 75 percent, of Peabody residents who contracted the virus have recovered.
