Peabody School Committee Member To Run For City Council At-Large Seat

PEABODY, MA — A longtime Peabody School Committee member is launching his bid for the Peabody City Council this fall.
Joseph Amico, who was first elected to the School Committee in 2015 and has twice served as the Committee's vice-chair, announced he is running for an At-Large City Council seat.
"I care deeply about Peabody and public service, and that's why I'm excited to launch my campaign for Councilor-at-Large," Amico said. "My wife and I moved to Peabody 22 years ago and chose to raise our kids here. It's one of the best decisions we ever made.

"I'm optimistic about Peabody’s future and its opportunities, but we have work to do to ensure our city is a thriving and affordable place to live for current and future generations."
Amico sits on the School Committee Finance and Education subcommittees. He is also a member of the Building Committee for Peabody's new Public Safety Headquarters. Amico has taught history in Revere Public Schools for nearly 25 years.

"The City Council will be changing next year, and I’m running to make sure that quality of life, strong schools, public services, and the health of our local economy are top priorities in the years ahead," he said.
Amico is also the owner of Amico Property Services, LLC. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Suffolk University, a master's degree from Salem State University, and a C.A.G.S. in Educational Leadership from the University of New England.
"If elected, I’ll be a City Councilor who isn't hard to find," said Amico. "I'll return phone calls and emails, and I'll work hard to solve problems big and small.
"A strong education system, public safety, and a robust business community are the foundation to our success in Peabody. I will be honored to make informed decisions that impact our residents."
