PEABODY, MA — Peabody police are working with the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife and the Environmental Police after an increase in coyote sightings in the city.

The increased coyote activity has been centered in the areas of Emerson Park, James Street and the Higgins Middle School, police said in social media posts Monday.

"Coyotes will eat whatever is available including small animals, birds, insects and fruits, as well as garbage, pet food, birdseed and compost," police said. Peabody police also offered information on preventing conflicts with coyotes from the state.
