Peabody Snow Emergency Declared For Late Weekend Storm

Sunday rain and sleet is expected to transition to steadier snow overnight with the possibility of a messy Monday morning commute.

PEABODY, MA — Peabody residents will have to remove their vehicles from city streets Sunday night with a snow emergency parking ban set to take effect at midnight.

The city said the ban will continue into Monday until a time to be determined.

"Please remove all cars from area roads to allow for safe and effective plow operations," Peabody Mayor Ted Bettencourt said in a message to the community early Sunday afternoon.

The storm was expected to begin a mix of rain, sleet and snow on Sunday morning and afternoon before transitioning to all snow late Sunday into Monday morning.

The Monday morning community could be a messy one with snow, wind and falling temperatures expected before a blustery rest of the day.

Because of the early rain mix, storm totals on the North Shore are expected to be moderate with 2 inches expected along the immediate coast and up to 4 to 6 inches possible farther inland.
